As of today I decided i will do two picture updates each week, and 2 weeks in the month I will give you guys a blog about my work method, retouching etc.
So to start good, here is the first result from todays shoot with the talented Naomi Lievens and the makeup & hair was provided by Stefanie Grootaers

Het Vinne

A while ago I decided to go for some pictures with sunrise. One thing i had in mind was “Het Vinn” at Zoutleeuw. That being said i produced a casting call on my facebook wall, with three requirements for the models.

* Not afraid in the dark
* Not afraid of the cold
* Not having problems getting up early

Ok, once i got the lovely Mandy to join me with the experiment, i’ve needed one more thing, and that’s a good assistant. Since we were shooting in some sort of lake, we needed somebody to guard the equipment. Assistant for the shoot was Lander Vanhoof also a photographer.

During the shoot we noticed that sunrise happens way too fast.
The gear we used was one Jinbei M-400 with a gridded beautydish, Powerpack, Nikon D700, Nikon 24-70mm f4.28 and Nikon 70-200mm f2.8. And off course one ND filter, with 3 stops, to make sure we were able to capture the lovely orange and blue in the sky during sunrise.

Beyonce

Today we had the oppertunity to do a wonderfull project based on female singer and celebrity Beyoncé Knowles.

So the idea came from our model, Charlotte who wanted to do a beach shoot based on the ‘Run The World’ and ‘Baby Boy’ musicvideos. We tried to get everything worked out, to have the shoot on the Belgian coast! Torches, sand, the whole chabang. Unfortunately due to the weather conditions in Belgium, we had to change our plans and turn this shoot into a studio shoot.

No worries, Charlotte and the whole team were all really excited to change the location shoot into a studio shoot. The only thing we had to manage was the backgrounds in the images.

So let me tell you who helped us out on this project:

In regards of lighting the scene all was pretty easy lit, with just one beautydish mounted onto a Jinbei 500Watt studioflash.
Since this was my first real shoot, after my workshops with Frank Doorhof in the Netherlands, I could not do this shoot without my X-Rite Colorchecker Passport, my lightmeter sekonic 758.

Again, we had such a wonderfull shooting day with lovely results, that it was worth every minute of the day choosing for the studio option ;)
